Our Process

There are many different methods that DNA Artisans use in creating their work.

Below is our method at Prairie Mama Birth Services. We want to make sure your breast milk or memorial piece is perfect and something you can cherish for a lifetime.

Placing your Order

When you place your order, you will receive a confirmation email. It will let you know how to get your inclusions to us. We do not post our address publicly. If you are sending breast milk, please send at least 1oz. and make sure to triple bag it (Ziploc or breast milk storage bags work the best!)
Any amount that we do not use will be preserved and stored here should you wish to order down the road.

Pieces of Your Order

If the item that you order is not regularly in stock or is custom made (ie. a ring), this is when we would order any required pieces to complete your order. We are proud to work with other artisans to create your piece. Please make sure to confirm the ring size you order is correct. We do offer adjustable ring sizers in our shop if you aren’t sure what size you need. We are unable to exchange rings for a different size once it is ordered.

Inclusions

When your inclusions arrive, we label & preserve them. The preservation can take up to 3 weeks and we use multiple practices to minimize any possible yellowing. Some businesses will offer a quick turn around and this may affect the quality of your inclusions and finished product. This type of jewelry requires time, patience and a mastered technique that cannot be rushed.  We also use a colorless preservative that mixes in during the preservation process. It has a very subtle sparkle which is not noticeable unless no shimmer is selected. If this is something you do not want, please let us know so we can adjust the method.

Order Queue

Our orders are usually processed in the order they come in and quite often we are able to process up to five orders in the same time frame. We limit the number of orders at one time in order to focus on each individual piece and put as much love into each piece as if it were our own. Some pieces will require extra labor, (ie. sealant on top of the inclusions or pouring multiple layers of the inclusion into the piece of jewelry), and love to make sure your piece turns out perfectly.

Finalizing Order

Once your piece is complete, it is sent through quality assurance to confirm that the piece is 100% perfect. We also want to make sure your piece of jewelry lasts for years to come. Before we package your piece, we take photos of it in case something happens to it once it leaves our shop en route to your mailbox. Be patient, this process may take up to 1-2 weeks to complete.

Shipping Order

Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with shipping details including a tracking number. Be sure to keep this handy for your reference.
