Jewelry Care

All of our breastmilk and DNA keepsake pieces are made with a high quality resin.  We use an in depth preservation process when we receive your breastmilk.  While we cannot guarantee there won't be any discolouration, we have taken every step to hopefully avoid this from happening. There are a number of different techniques that can be applied and since this is a relatively new field, there's no concrete information of what works / doesn't work.

We are continually researching to ensure any yellowing is kept to a minimum; if we happen to find another preservation process that works a bit better than what we currently offer, we will give it a try. If it appears to offer a better outcome than what our current process is, we will strive to maintain that high level of trust and care we put into our products.

Cleaning the jewelry
Do not under any circumstances submerge the jewelry pieces even in water. This also includes any chemicals such as bleach, hydrogen peroxide, paint thinner or rubbing alcohol.  We include a cleaning cloth with each order - please use this cloth to keep your piece sparkling.

Water
We recommend that you remove any resin jewelry before taking a bath, shower or washing your hands. The pieces are water resistant and some are water proof (depending on if your piece allowed for a top coat).

Sunlight / Heat
Please store your piece out of direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the resin to discolour and soften. The type of resin that we use includes a UV stabilizer AND an additive called HALS (short for Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer).  Between the UV stabilizer and the additive, they work to stop the yellowing. But this also requires general care and some precautions to take with your jewelry.

Chemicals
Avoid using harsh chemicals / cleaning products when wearing your keepsake piece. This would include items like hair spray, lotion, perfume, hand sanitizer and nail polish remover.

Scratches / Other Marks
Starting in April 2018, we will keep any remaining inclusions securely locked in our shop for 18 months. This includes any leftover hair, breastmilk, placenta powder or even umbilical. If something does happen to your piece, please get in touch with us immediately so we can help fix or replace the jewelry item. All we ask is that you ship the item back to us so that it can be repaired. We do not offer refunds but will certainly do everything in our power to make sure our customers are happy.
